8-14 August – Summer Retreats at the Lanau Zen Centre
The summer retreats at the Lanau Zen Center will be dedicated to practising together. “Ensemble” – together – is the meaning of “gya tei” in the Hannya shin gyo, the Heart of Great Perfect Wisdom Sutra, which we chant daily. It is, to see the unity of all things, expressed by the formula – All beings are Buddha -, It is also to recognize the illusory character of the ego, to agree to leave it at the door of the temple, and to act with attention and benevolence, in accordance with the rhythm of others and with the rules.
The summer retreats are changing format. Their duration will be one week to facilitate the summer schedule of practitioners.
We insist that every practitioner come for the whole week. Thanks for taking it into account.
The first 4 days will be punctuated by 3 daily zazen, periods of samu (activity for community tasks), teachings (teisho) on the practice of Zen, substance and form, as well as workshops on subjects that concern us.
